Seccl seeks a pragmatic platform engineer to architect, implement and maintain scalable AWS infrastructure with Terraform, design serverless solutions and drive reliability, observability and secure CI/CD practices across engineering squads. Hybrid travel to Bath, London, and Edinburgh is expected.

Qualifications

• Experience as a pragmatic platform engineer in regulated environments.
• Balancing delivery with compliance and operational excellence.
• Confidence with AWS, Terraform and CI/CD tooling.

Responsibilities

• Architect, implement, and maintain scalable, secure infra in AWS using Terraform.
• Design cloud-native, serverless solutions with MongoDB, Lambda, API Gateway.
• Contribute to incident response, production readiness and reliability efforts.
• Improve observability with actionable alerting using Datadog.
• Improve CI/CD with GitHub Actions to reduce delivery friction.
• Collaborate with Node.js/TypeScript engineers for secure, performant apps.
• Mentor engineers and promote DevOps culture and best practices.
• Own platform-level outcomes and shape progression of the role.

• Experience as a pragmatic platform engineer in regulated environments;
• Experience balancing delivery with compliance and operational excellence;
• Confidence working with JavaScript/TypeScript-based applications and development teams;
• Knowledge of MongoDB and Postgres, including diagnosing, designing, and optimising for scale and resilience;
• Strong focus on observability and actionable alerting;
• Fluency in AWS best practices, infrastructure-as-code with Terraform, and CI/CD tooling such as GitHub Actions;
• Exposure to architectural decisions;
• Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment and follow through on ideas;
• Nice to have: No additional preferred qualifications specified.

• £55,000 And £75,000, dependant on experience + reviewed annually;
