XTX Markets in the United Kingdom is seeking a software developer for the Shared Engineering team. You will build platform services and internal tooling in Go, focusing on developer experience and AI/coding-assistant tooling, within a mixed-discipline team.

The role emphasizes end-to-end ownership, collaboration with network/Linux engineers, and a strong culture of mentorship. This position offers a hybrid work pattern with a modern King's Cross office and competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Strong software-engineering fundamentals and production experience
• Comfortable on Linux and OS concepts (processes, networking, packaging, systemd)
• Experience with build systems, CI/CD, and release pipelines in a monorepo environment
• Track record of delivering tangible software results
• Excellent written and verbal communication, collaboration with non-developers
• Interest or experience in developer experience and AI/coding-assistant tooling
• Experience with infrastructure/platform software: inventory/asset systems, monitoring, alerting, scheduling, container orchestration
• APIs, data pipelines and schema management: clean service APIs and data movement
• Infrastructure-as-code and cloud fluency (Terraform/AWS; Azure/GCP helpful)
• Exposure to server or network hardware and data centre operations

Responsibilities

• Working primarily in Go, build and own platform services and internal tooling end-to-end, from design through to production
• Improve developer experience by reducing friction in the build/CI/CD path, strengthen shared libraries
• Shape how the firm adopts AI/coding-assistant tooling safely and effectively, integrating it into workflows and building guardrails
• Collaborate with network and Linux engineers to understand infrastructure needs and expose them in software
• Mentor teammates and share knowledge to improve skills and maintainability
• Raise standards through thoughtful code review and pragmatic prioritisation of work
• Participate in on-call to troubleshoot cross-domain issues across current and legacy infrastructure
