Platform Engineer

Department: DevOps & Infrastructure

Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time

Location: London

Reporting To: Keith Bartlett


Description

The role of Platform Engineer is wide-ranging, including infrastructure-centric aspects of Cloud Architecture and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), as well as optimizing the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) using techniques such as Lean and BDD.

Key to driving our technology strategy forward, you will implement practices and approaches that enhance throughput and enable the business to test new products, pricing, and capabilities rapidly in the marketplace.


About the role

As a member of the Platform Development team, you will build tools that evolve our Azure cloud infrastructure in a safe, reliable, automated, and cost-effective manner, enabling our proprietary technology development teams to have the best possible development experience.

  • Provide expertise and input into the design and implementation of LAC automation to serve the needs of our application hosting, with particular focus on consistency, security, and developer enablement.
  • Participate in planning efforts with stakeholders and the IT department, working as part of a small team and managing your own tasks according to the larger needs of the business.
  • Help define and enforce security guidelines for engineering work.
  • In the event of failure, work on fixing issues and communicating with senior team members.

About you

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have enterprise experience with Azure and an excellent understanding of SDLC best practices, Infrastructure as Code/Desired State Configuration—using tools like Terraform, Ansible, etc.
  • Possess advanced experience with command-line scripting tools such as Azure CLI, Bash, and PowerShell.
  • Have an understanding of DevOps-centric concepts and Azure Platform Engineering, particularly regarding automation and YAML pipelines.
