Job summary

Thomson Keene is seeking an Observability Engineer to own and improve services for a critical electronic trading platform in London. You will lead observability with Prometheus, Grafana and OpenTelemetry, automate manual tasks, and create self-service tools for engineering and security teams.

The role requires a proven track record in production observability, solid Kubernetes expertise (on-prem/bare-metal), and strong Python/Linux/IaC/CI/CD skills.

Qualifications

• Proven track record implementing observability tooling in production.
• Strong Kubernetes experience in on-premise or bare-metal environments.
• Proficient in Python, Linux, IaC and CI/CD.

Responsibilities

• Own observability across the platform using Prometheus, Grafana and OpenTelemetry.
• Automate manual processes and build self-service tooling for engineering and security teams.
• Improve and maintain monitoring as part of the platform engineering team.

Observability Engineer | Electronic Trading Platform

Are you an observability engineer who wants to own and improve services, rather than just maintain them? Would you rather run Kubernetes on bare-metal than click through a cloud console?

Our client is looking for an Observability or Monitoring Engineer to join its small platform engineering team, supporting their business-critical electronic trading platform in London.

What will you do?

Improve and own observability across the platform using Prometheus, Grafana and OpenTelemetry, automate away manual processes, and build self-service tooling for engineering and security teams.

What will you need to know?

• A real track record of implementing and improving observability tooling in production
• Solid Kubernetes knowledge, ideally from on-premise or bare-metal environments
• Strong automation skills in Python & Linux, Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD

Splunk and trading environment experience are a bonus.

4 days pw in office. £90,000 - £115,000 base (DOE) + bonus + generous benefits.
