Job summary

Searchability NS&D is hiring experienced Lead Platform Engineers to join a growing engineering capability delivering secure cloud platforms for UK public sector. You will design and operate scalable, compliant cloud platforms and lead technical delivery to support government services used by millions.

Strong IaC, Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD, and Linux scripting are essential. The role offers a flexible model with office and client travel within the UK.

Qualifications

• Experience designing and operating secure, scalable cloud platforms for production use.
• Strong IaC skills with Terraform or similar tools.
• Proven ability to lead engineering teams and mentor engineers.

THE LEAD PLATFORM ENGINEER ROLE

As a Lead Platform Engineer, you will work within agile engineering teams designing and building secure, scalable cloud platforms for major UK public sector organisations.

You will help deliver enterprise scale infrastructure platforms that enable development teams to build and deploy secure digital services.

Typical responsibilities include:

• Designing and improving cloud infrastructure platforms
• Building Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
• Supporting container platforms using Kubernetes and Docker
• Developing CI/CD pipelines to automate delivery and deployment
• Improving platform monitoring, reliability and observability
• Providing technical leadership and mentoring engineers across delivery teams

LEAD PLATFORM ENGINEER ESSENTIAL SKILLS

• Infrastructure as Code experience using Terraform
• Container technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker
• Strong Linux engineering and scripting experience
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab or similar tools
• Experience supporting large scale production cloud platforms
• Ability to provide technical leadership within engineering teams

Candidates must be SC cleared or eligible to obtain SC clearance.
