Job summary

Dutton Recruitment (Sheffield Engineering) are recruiting for a Plater on a long-term contract in Billington. Immediate start subject to interview. Rate £18.00-£19.00 per hour depending on experience. Potential to go permanent for the right candidate.

Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, marking out, cutting and preparing steel plate, and performing platework and fabrication activities are core responsibilities. Safety and quality are emphasized throughout the role.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Plater in engineering or fabrication.
• Ability to read and work from engineering drawings.
• Experience with marking out, cutting and preparing steel plate.
• Strong understanding of fabrication processes.
• Ability to use workshop tools and equipment confidently.
• Good attention to detail and reliability.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and fabrication specifications.
• Marking out, cutting, shaping and preparing steel components for fabrication.
• Carrying out platework and structural fabrication activities.
• Using hand tools, power tools and workshop equipment safely and effectively.
• Preparing materials prior to welding and assembly.
• Working to tight tolerances and maintaining high-quality standards.
• Carrying out self-inspection of completed work.
• Ensuring all work is completed in line with company procedures and health & safety requirements.
• Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment.
