Job summary

Metalis Engineering Recruitment Limited is currently seeking an experienced Plater for a well-established Chesterfield workshop. You will work on a daytime shift, with regular hours Monday to Friday and overtime opportunities. Immediate starts are available and pay is £17.94 per hour.

Role involves reading drawings, fabricating and assembling steel components, and maintaining quality through checks in a busy heavy engineering environment.

Qualifications

• Experience as Plater or Fabricator in heavy engineering/manufacturing.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Experience with structural steel and heavy fabrication.
• Attention to detail and quality standards.
• Reliable with a strong work ethic and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate and assemble steel components from engineering drawings.
• Mark out, cut, shape and fit metal sections to specification.
• Read and interpret technical drawings accurately.
• Use fabrication tools and workshop equipment.
• Tack weld components where required prior to final welding.

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Plater to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing company based in Chesterfield. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled individual looking to join a busy workshop with regular daytime hours and opportunities for overtime.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Fabricate and assemble steel components from engineering drawings.
• Mark out, cut, shape, and fit metal sections to specification.
• Read and interpret technical drawings accurately.
• Use a variety of fabrication tools and workshop equipment.
• Tack weld components where required prior to final welding.
• Carry out quality checks to ensure work meets required standards.
• Work safely and maintain a clean and organised work area.
• Collaborate effectively with colleagues to meet production deadlines.

Candidate Requirements:

• Previous experience working as a Plater or Fabricator within a heavy engineering or manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Experience working with structural steel, plate, or heavy fabrication.
• Competent using hand tools, grinders, drills, and fabrication equipment.
• Good attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Reliable with a strong work ethic and positive attitude.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
