The opportunity
As our Plastering Teacher, you will play an essential part in guiding our students through the practical skills and theoretical knowledge required to succeed in the plastering trade. You will deliver hands-on, engaging lessons in both our state-of-the-art workshop and classroom settings, working with students of varying levels—from those starting their careers to those looking to develop or upskill their abilities. Your expertise will help students gain the skills necessary for a successful career in plastering, ensuring they meet industry standards.
You’ll prepare and deliver lessons, practical demonstrations, and assessments, while supporting students in their learning journey. You will also monitor their progress, provide constructive feedback, and foster an environment where learners feel confident and motivated to succeed. Safety will be a top priority, and you will ensure that students follow health and safety guidelines in practical sessions and maintain a safe working environment.
You will also collaborate closely with colleagues and course leaders to ensure the curriculum is delivered effectively and that resources are well-managed. Your contributions will help maintain a high standard of teaching and learning within the Construction department, and you will actively participate in course development to ensure content is relevant and aligned with industry trends.

About you
We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic plastering professional who is passionate about sharing their expertise and helping students achieve their potential. You should have a strong background in the plastering trade, with hands-on experience in techniques such as internal two and three coat plaster systems, external rendering, skimming walls and ceilings, dry lining, including a fibrous with a sound understanding of the industry standards and practices.
You’ll need excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage and motivate learners from a variety of backgrounds and skill levels, from those starting their careers to adults seeking to upskill.
A teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, Cert Ed) is desirable, but if you don’t already have one, we will provide support to help you achieve it.
We are looking for someone who is organised, adaptable, and dedicated to creating a positive learning environment. You should be able to deliver engaging lessons, assess progress effectively, and tailor your teaching approach to meet the needs of individual students. A commitment to maintaining a safe and professional workshop environment, with a focus on health and safety, is essential.
Experience in education or training is an advantage, but a genuine enthusiasm for developing the next generation of plastering professionals is what matters most.
