Overview

A exciting opportunity to join a small and dedicated team of Orthopaedic Practitioners in Addenbrookes Plaster room. Working across fracture and specialist clinics such as Ponsetti, diabetic foot and pediatric physiotherapy, this diverse role also supports pediatric theatres, inpatients and the emergency department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply and remove both simple and complex casts in a range of different materials.
  • Fit braces and the application of removable casts.
  • Cover specialist clinics including pediatric Ponsetti casting, diabetic total contact casting and removable casts.
  • Attend theatres to apply complex casts and provide casts and braces in the emergency department and wards as needed.
  • Document patient treatments accurately.
  • Provide teaching to patients and caregivers on plaster/brace care both verbally and with written instructions.
  • Recognise patient concerns, give correct information and appropriately escalated when necessary.
  • Work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Act as a role model for colleagues and patients.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Effective communication skills with other healthcare professionals and multidisciplinary team members.
  • Ability to recognise concerns during patient interactions and provide correct information.
  • Experience working within orthopaedic practice, physiotherapy or related health care settings.
