Job summary

Trant Engineering Ltd. is seeking a Plant and Transport Technician to support inspection, maintenance, repair and safe operation of plant and transport fleets at Southampton sites.

You will ensure compliance with safety regulations and manufacturer standards to keep operations uninterrupted. In this role you’ll diagnose and fix hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems, maintain records, and cooperate with drivers and supervisors.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Plant Maintenance or Vehicle Mechanics.
• Strong knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Applicants must be legally authorised to work in the UK; we cannot sponsor work visas for this role.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair plant equipment (generators, compressors, excavators, tools) and transport vehicles (trucks, vans).
• Carry out mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic system repairs.
• Maintain accurate maintenance and inspection records.
• Service and repair company vehicles and ensure roadworthiness and safety compliance.
• Assist with breakdowns and emergency repairs on site.
• Use COINS ERP to upload service history and photos of assets.
