Job summary

Trant Engineering Ltd in Northam, Devon, is seeking a Plant and Transport Technician to join our project delivery teams. You will be responsible for inspection, maintenance, and safe operation of plant machinery and transport vehicles on site.

The role requires NVQ Level 3 in Plant Maintenance or Vehicle Mechanics, and you will maintain records, ensure compliance with safety standards, and liaise with drivers and supervisors.

Qualifications

• Essential NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Plant Maintenance or Vehicle Mechanics.
• Strong knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the UK, as we are unable to sponsor work visas for this role.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair plant equipment (generators, compressors, excavators, tools) and transport vehicles (trucks, vans).
• Carry out mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic system repairs.
• Maintain accurate maintenance and inspection records.
• Service and repair company vehicles.
• Ensure vehicles meet roadworthiness and legal compliance standards.
• Assist with breakdowns and emergency repairs on site.
• Using tablets, maintain service history and upload photos of assets onto the COINS ERP system.
• Liaise with drivers, supervisors, and management regarding equipment condition.
• Support health and safety, quality and environmental standards on site.
