Job description

Based in Huntly, Shinagawa has an impressive and unequalled refractory heritage. Proud to be the largest refractory supplier in the region, Shinagawa Refractories has been operating in Huntly since its establishment in 1987. Specialised in the production of refractories (heat-resistant materials), with a secondary plant due to open in late 2025, this is a great opportunity to be part of a committed and skilled team with opportunities for growth, development and cross functional collaboration.

About the role

As Plant Supervisor you will be leading the day-to-day operations of the Huntly facility. In this hands-on role, you will organise and oversee all resources (both people and equipment) to ensure production, safety, quality and targets are achieved.

Reporting to the Plant Manager with strong connection to the Australian team, this role leads operations in a key facility with real impact on company performance. You will drive continuous improvement, coordinate production activities and manage workforce performance with a strong focus on workplace health and safety.

A typical day

  • Managing workforce planning to achieve planned levels of production
  • Ensuring efficient workflow and product quality standards
  • Communicating and updating with internal team on progress
  • Leading the workforce with a focus on continuous improvement and high-performance culture
  • Conducting daily toolbox meetings and monitor workplace safety and housekeeping
  • Overseeing plant sequencing operations to ensure efficiencies are optimised

What we are looking for

  • Proven experience as a Plant Supervisor or in a similar leadership role in a production environment
  • Sound mechanical aptitude and understanding of plant machinery
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills
  • Strong understanding of WHS compliance
  • Knowledge of raw material handling and quality assurance procedures
  • Team-oriented with a proactive and solutions-driven approach
