Plant Supervisor (JR10007887) Brighton, England

Purpose of the role

Reporting to the District Operations Manager, the Plant Supervisor is responsible for the overall control of the site.

Main duties include the use of computer-based systems for batching and dispatch of concrete, communicating with customers face-to-face and via phone, carrying out routine maintenance, supervising contractors and hauliers to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the site in compliance with the Health & Safety at Work Act and Environmental Legislation.

Other key responsibilities include ensuring that concrete produced meets quality standards and maintaining site housekeeping standards.

Key Accountabilities

  • Ensure production of concrete/mortar meets customer requirements, with optimal output, quality, and standards as per the Procedures Manual, Working Instructions, and Technical Instructions.
  • Regularly inspect and perform routine maintenance on plant equipment, ensuring cleanliness of plant, area, buildings, and equipment.
  • Manage waste disposal, water discharges, and dust emissions according to environmental procedures.
  • Ensure sufficient materials are available for production demands.
  • Inspect incoming materials and conduct weekly visual stock checks.
  • Ensure all employees, contractors, and visitors comply with safety instructions.
  • Optimize plant, equipment, and material utilization through work method reviews.
  • Perform other duties as directed by management.
  • Operate the batching plant to company standards and maintain site presentation.
  • Accurately batch concrete/mortar following procedures.
  • Maintain adequate stock of approved materials, including additives and fuel, and verify stocks weekly and monthly.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and record defects/actions.
  • Report safety, environmental, or quality issues immediately.
  • Comply with policies on health & safety, environment, quality control, fraud prevention, and competition law.
  • Keep the site, plant, and buildings clean, tidy, and secure.
  • Seek advice from the District Operations Manager when necessary.
  • Handle customer inquiries courteously, upholding the company's image.

Job requirements

  • Operate the batching plant to company standards, maintaining site presentation.
  • Batch concrete/mortar accurately per procedures.
  • Ensure the plant is stocked with approved materials, including additives and fuel, and notify admin of discrepancies.
  • Process delivery tickets promptly and accurately, raising CRDF forms as needed.
  • Check stocks weekly and verify monthly.
  • Perform routine maintenance and defect inspections, recording actions.
  • Report any issues that could affect health & safety, environment, product quality, or service.
  • Ensure compliance with policies on health & safety, environment, quality, fraud prevention, and competition law.
  • Maintain cleanliness and security of the site and plant.
  • Consult with the District Operations Manager on matters outside the supervisor’s authority.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
  • Handle customer inquiries professionally, maintaining high standards.
