Job description

Purpose of the role

Reporting to the District Operations Manager, the Plant Supervisor is responsible for the overall control of the site. Main duties include using computer-based systems for batching and dispatching concrete, communicating with customers face-to-face and via phone, carrying out routine maintenance, supervising contractors and hauliers to ensure safe and efficient site operations in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work Act and Environmental Legislation. Additional responsibilities include ensuring that concrete produced complies with quality standards and that site housekeeping standards are maintained.

Key Accountabilities
  • Ensure that concrete/mortar production meets customer requirements, providing optimum output, quality, and standards according to company procedures.
  • Regularly inspect and perform routine maintenance on plant equipment, ensuring cleanliness and adherence to safety and operational standards.
  • Manage waste disposal, water discharges, and dust emissions following environmental procedures.
  • Maintain adequate stock levels of materials, inspecting incoming materials and conducting weekly stock checks.
  • Ensure all employees, contractors, and visitors follow safety instructions.
  • Optimize plant, equipment, and material utilization through continuous review of work methods.
  • Perform other duties as directed by management.
  • Operate batching plant to company standards, maintaining site presentation and safety standards.
  • Accurately batch concrete/mortar, ensuring proper stock levels of approved materials, including additives and fuel.
  • Record and report defects, safety issues, or incidents that could impact health, safety, environment, or product quality.
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety, environmental, quality control, and other relevant policies.
  • Maintain cleanliness, tidiness, and safety of the site, plant, and buildings.
  • Maintain site security at all times.
  • Consult with the District Operations Manager on matters outside the supervisor’s authority.
  • Handle customer inquiries and orders professionally, upholding the company's image.
Job Requirements
  • Operate batching plant to company standards and maintain site presentation.
  • Batch concrete/mortar accurately according to procedures.
  • Maintain adequate stock of approved materials, including additives and fuel, and report discrepancies.
  • Manage delivery tickets and raise CRDF forms for necessary actions.
  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections, recording actions taken.
  • Report safety, environmental, or quality issues promptly.
  • Comply with policies on health & safety, environment, quality, and legal requirements.
  • Keep the site, plant, and buildings clean, tidy, and secure.
  • Seek advice from the District Operations Manager on issues beyond authority.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
  • Handle customer inquiries courteously, maintaining a high standard of service.
