Job description

We are now looking for a plant operator to join our team and operate a variety of machinery to assist with moving and loading waste. The successful candidate is not required to have any plant tickets or licences, full training will be given. A full driving licence will be required.

Hours: 7am-5pm Monday to Friday

Smiths has grown from a single owner-operated plant hire company to a multifaceted group with family values still firmly at the heart of each project undertaken. With depots in Avonmouth, Cardiff, Gloucester, Stonehouse and Tewkesbury we operate predominately across the South-West of England. We specialise in Construction, Waste Management, Plant Hire, Demolition and Transport operations.

Responsibilities for the job role:

  • Operate plant machinery at our main waste facility.
  • Understand and be able to identify non-permitted waste including hazardous waste
  • Operate machinery in such a fashion to try to keep and maintain dust emissions low.
  • Ensure a good standard of tidiness is maintained at all times
  • Exercise extreme care when manoeuvring in the proximity of pedestrians
  • Afford pedestrians the “Right of Way” priority at all times
  • Comply with site traffic mandatory instructions at all times
  • Understanding of weighbridge procedures.
