Job description

Plant Operator - Trecatti

In this role, you will maintain and operate mobile plant equipment in a safe and efficient manner, working in a busy landfill operation both unsupervised and under instruction by the site supervisor or management team.

Key responsibilities:

1. Ensure that the landfill traffic management plan is adhered to. Maintain bunds, signage, and roadways to ensure safe operation for customers and plant operators.
2. Perform daily maintenance on site plant and complete daily plant check sheets, reporting any defects immediately.
3. Operate the site plant according to training provided and within site rules. Maintain the 5m rule and reversing protocols.
4. Communicate clearly via two-way radio with customers and colleagues.
5. Manage dust control by dampening roads and tip face with plant or fixed systems.
6. Control mud on site and peripheral roads.
7. Implement pest control measures for birds, flies, and rodents.
8. Ensure odour control systems are functioning effectively and manage waste operations at the tipping area.
9. Perform litter picking as required.
10. Assist with manual labour activities such as lifting and moving leachate and gas pipework.
11. Attend safety meetings and participate in internal and external training courses.
12. Promote a positive safety culture and enforce adherence to site rules.

Essential criteria for the role:

• CPCS or equivalent mobile plant training certification.
• Relevant experience in waste or environmental sectors.
• Ability to carry out essential daily maintenance of site plant.
• Full car driving license.
