The Role

Managing Waste has a new opening for a Plant Operative to join our Waste and Recycling Centre in Swanley.

The successful candidate will operate the plant safely, ensuring machines are kept clean inside and out. They will maintain health and safety rules by recording pre-use inspections, logging issues, and reporting them to management. Additionally, plant operatives will greet customers and assist them during their visit to the site.

It is essential that the successful candidate holds an NPORS, ITSSAR, or equivalent accredited operative competence certificate to operate a wheeled Materials Handler with elevating cab. Please consider this requirement before applying.

Key Duties
  • Operate plant safely according to company policies and site procedures, keeping machinery clean inside and out
  • Conduct pre- and post-shift inspections, log faults, and report them to management
  • Ensure health and safety by taking reasonable care of yourself and others, reporting issues to the site manager/supervisor
  • Maintain a clean site, enforce site rules, handle spillages, and litter pick as necessary
  • Provide excellent customer service, inform customers about recycling facilities, control site traffic, and direct complaints to a manager
What we need from you
  • NPORS, ITSSAR, or equivalent operative competence certificate to operate a wheeled Materials Handler with elevating cab
  • Good knowledge and understanding of health and safety
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions
  • Flexibility to work 7 days a week, including weekends
  • Hardworking, friendly, and approachable attitude
