Plant Operations Specialist - GROWMARK FS, LLC - Preston, MD

PURPOSE AND SUMMARY

Assists the Location Manager with the operations of the assigned location, including planning, scheduling, logistics, inventory, product handling, customer satisfaction, and personnel management.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  1. Collaborates with the Location Manager and Crop Specialist on planning, organizing, directing, and scheduling work assignments and product batching sequences for dry & liquid facilities.
  2. Manages inventory control and ensures accurate application records daily, verifying all products with invoices or delivery tickets.
  3. Reviews customer blending and delivery tickets for accuracy and schedules product batching accordingly.
  4. Operates facility loading/unloading equipment, mixing machinery, and other related equipment.
  5. Coordinates work activities of location employees.
  6. Performs preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and cleaning of equipment and machinery.
  7. Maintains facility equipment and machinery safely, efficiently, and economically.
  8. Schedules and performs maintenance on equipment, rolling stock, and facilities.
  9. Sets up material handling, blending, storage, transport, and application equipment for product blending and delivery, following recommended procedures.
  10. Completes delivery tickets, transfer tickets, and invoicing for fertilizer and crop protection loads.
  11. Operates sprayers, floaters, trucks, and other equipment safely, complying with company and DOT standards.
  12. Performs and records daily safety checks of vehicles and equipment, including pre-trip inspections.
  13. Loads and unloads containers and materials safely, ensuring proper weight distribution and compliance with DOT regulations.
  14. Leads personnel to follow all safety procedures and regulations.
  15. Provides timely and accurate customer service to enhance satisfaction and organizational profitability.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Supports company goals through collaboration.
  • Follows all relevant policies, including safety, environmental, OSHA, and DOT regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent, with 3+ years of related experience in fertilizer facility and equipment operations.
  • Essential skills include business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision-making, and skill development.
  • Preferred understanding of GROWMARK’s agronomy and energy operations.
  • Preferred CDL license with a valid medical card and satisfactory driving record.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain necessary endorsements, certifications, licenses, and permits.
  • Willingness to work extended hours and be on-call as needed.
  • Ability to work in conditions such as extreme weather, dust, fumes, chemicals, electrical hazards, heights, confined spaces, and lifting 51-70 lbs.
  • Willingness to participate in relevant training programs.
