Overview

Vacancy: Plant Operations Manager
Location: ReFood Ltd, Widnes

Business: The ReFood AD plants operate as integrated recycling units, processing a variety of food wastes to produce biogas, renewable electricity, heat and ReGrow (a nutrient-rich fertiliser for local farms). The plants also recycle the food waste packaging providing an environmentally sustainable solution for all waste producers looking for a safe method of diverting food waste from landfill.

The Position: An exciting opening has arisen for a Plant Operations Manager to join the team. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to join an established and growing company that is committed to helping conserve natural resources and protect the environment.

Responsibilities
  • This is a full-time permanent position, working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. As a Plant Operations Manager, your duties and responsibilities will vary based on the Company’s requirements but will include:
  • To ensure on-site operations run to maximum efficiency to deliver required outputs.
  • Work with the relevant management team/s to establish process and performance using KPI’s and lead continuous improvements.
  • To manage and maintain the site’s resources including personnel, the plant and equipment on a daily basis.
  • Ensure plant operations maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and licences, including Environmental Permit, ABP licence and relevant statutory compliance.
  • Ensure management systems maintain compliance with standards ISO9001, PAS110 and ADQP. Along with working towards ISO14001 and ISO45001.
  • Ensure that the highest possible standards of Health and Safety are maintained in line with Group and site specific H&S policies and Codes of Practice, through leading by example including the development and implementation of Risk Assessments, Safe Working Procedures and Standard Operating Procedures, where necessary.
  • To carry out regular and routine monitoring of all site systems, whilst ensuring that correct recordings and observing recordings are within set parameters to ensure optimal process tolerance.
  • Ensure staff are engaged, motivated, developed and lead with a high focus on training.
  • Work closely with sales and commercial teams to ensure delivery of client requirements.
  • Work closely with the Transport department to ensure deliveries and dispatches are scheduled and aligned with the process.
  • Liaise with and manage site Engineering team for engineering requirements and ensuring planned preventative maintenance systems are carried out.
  • Liaise with wider departments to support site projects and business development.
The Person
  • Educated to Degree level (or equivalent) in a Waste Management, Science or Engineering based discipline. Alternatively, candidates with previous experience in sectors such as brewing, food production, chemical industries or waste/wastewater management, will be considered.
  • Qualified in IOSH Managing Safely and willing to work towards NEBOSH General Certificate. In addition, to be qualified in Wamitab COTC is desirable.
  • Experience in an operational management position, within a continuous process manufacturing environment.
  • Have excellent people management skills with the ability to converse at all levels with various stakeholders.
  • Exceptional decision-making skills and ability to work well under pressure.
  • Good written and verbal communication and IT skills - must be proficient with MS Office.
  • Be flexible, practical and hard working with a strong work ethic.
