Position Overview

The Plant Mechanic will report to the Workshop Supervisor and join our New Machines Team on a full-time basis at our Guildford site. The role involves assisting with the building and testing of the latest Caterpillar equipment, ensuring all machinery meets our high standards of quality and performance.

About the Department

The New Machines Department at WesTrac specializes in providing cutting-edge machinery solutions tailored to the evolving needs of the mining industry. Our team is dedicated to delivering innovative, reliable, and efficient Caterpillar equipment to enhance operational productivity and safety.

Roster

Monday to Friday, 10.5 hours per day (including a meal break).

Key Responsibilities
  1. Build and test the latest Caterpillar equipment, ensuring it meets quality and performance standards.
  2. Work with team members to manage and complete high-volume tasks efficiently.
  3. Promote, encourage, and monitor safety standards.
Skills & Experience
  • Australian Recognised Trade Certificate (Heavy Vehicle Mechanic).
  • Experience with mining/construction equipment or similar industrial areas such as agriculture or highway trucks; hire equipment experience is highly regarded.
  • CAT equipment experience is highly desirable.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills to resolve complex mechanical problems.
  • Ability to work with various machinery types and adapt to new technologies and methods.
  • Precision in assembling, testing, and maintaining equipment to meet safety and performance standards.
