Job Description

Astute's Renewables Team is partnering exclusively with a key business and influential player in the UK Anaerobic Digestion market. The company is seeking an experienced Plant Manager to join them. You will be joining a plant at the latter stages of a significant upgrade and expansion.

Responsibilities and duties of the Plant Manager role
  • Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will:
  • Have full accountability for the site; its compliance, profitability, and managing all operational aspects daily.
  • Manage the site effectively to promote a positive, health and safety-focused culture.
  • Liaise with relevant governing bodies and handle escalations.
  • Communicate tasks, responsibilities, and performance expectations, including conducting annual reviews, identifying training needs, and chairing team briefs.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including customers and local government.
  • Manage the Environmental Permit, Odour Management Plan, and site certifications.
  • Monitor digestate levels and ensure PAS 110 compliance.
  • Attend safety management meetings as needed.
  • Be commercially aware, managing incoming feedstock for optimal gas yield and returns.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Professional qualifications
  • WAMITAB qualification or willingness to work towards it.
  • A relevant engineering degree is desired.
  • NEBOSH or equivalent health & safety qualification.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
Personal skills
  • Experience in anaerobic digestion or similar heavy processing plants.
  • Strong leadership skills to coach, develop, and motivate teams.
  • Problem-solving and team-building abilities.
  • Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental compliance.
  • Experience in budget management and cost control.
  • Confident communicator for team meetings and operational updates.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and plant control systems.
