Role Overview:
In line with business, client and legislative requirements, be responsible for the management of the Biomass Power Plant, ensuring compliance with and delivery of the px Group Operating Standard through leadership, direction, and management of strategy, actions, and results.
Lead, engage, and manage the operations and maintenance site teams to ensure consistent implementation of the above.
Main Responsibilities:
- Ensure the safe and effective running of the Biomass Power Plant, meeting all SHEQ, legislative, and business requirements, and striving for continuous improvement.
- Model px’s zero harm SHEQ and risk management strategies, uphold company values, behaviors, policies, culture, and practices.
- Develop and maintain effective client relationships, balancing px and client requirements to ensure safe, efficient asset operation and excellent customer service.
- Develop, communicate, and deliver the Annual Operating Plan, including procedures and systems for the site. Achieve performance targets and ensure effective communication and monitoring.
- Plan, justify, control, and optimize budgets, financial considerations, and contracts.
- Collaborate effectively with px employees, customers, contractors, external authorities, and the community to promote the business and meet site and client needs.
- Support business growth by working with new ventures, existing clients, and local infrastructure to maximize opportunities.
- Engage with authorities (HSE, EA, local councils, police, fire services), partners, and community representatives to demonstrate compliance and commitment.
- Participate in the px plant managers’ forum to share best practices and support peers.
- Work with the Site Director to identify and implement CAPEX projects to improve safety and efficiency.
- Oversee outages and critical maintenance to ensure safety and reliability.
- Provide out-of-hours and emergency support as needed.
- Maintain professional skills and knowledge, representing the Plant Manager role positively.
Candidate Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Plant Manager of a large plant.
- Degree or equivalent in Engineering or related field.
- Experience in the energy sector or similar hazard industries.
- Experience managing energy-related assets.
- Senior management experience in similar industries.
- Ability to think strategically while managing day-to-day operations.
- Skilled in motivating staff in safety-focused, client-driven environments.
- Experience coaching, managing performance and absence.
- Comfortable working on-site, managing ongoing operations, and participating in team efforts for better outcomes.
