Job summary

RecruitME is seeking a Plant Manager to lead the safe, efficient and compliant running of an energy-from-waste facility in Lanarkshire. You will oversee day-to-day operations, develop the site team, and ensure performance aligns with contractual KPIs while maintaining high environmental and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Extensive management experience in operations, ideally within power generation or energy from waste.
• Proven track record of leading teams and delivering operational performance.
• Strong knowledge of plant operations and maintenance, incl. boilers, turbines and generators.
• Experience managing HSE, environmental and quality standards in a regulated setting.
• Familiarity with operating procedures, permit systems and maintenance management.
• Experience managing budgets, KPIs and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Engineering qualification relevant to power or waste industries, or equivalent.
• Gasification experience is advantageous; NEBOSH/IOSH/IEMA/BOAS qualifications beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operations and support development of the site team.
• Promote a proactive health and safety culture and ensure safe systems of work are followed.
• Manage environmental compliance, including permit requirements.
• Monitor plant availability, operational performance and KPIs.
• Prepare and manage budgets, forecast expenditure and identify improvements.
• Coordinate maintenance and annual outages with the maintenance team.
• Respond to unplanned outages and ensure safe return of equipment to service.
• Oversee incoming waste quality and quantity, maintaining supply to the facility.
• Build relationships with contractors, suppliers, regulators and stakeholders.

Are you a senior operational leader with experience in power generation, energy from waste or a similar industrial environment?

RecruitME is looking for a Plant Manager to lead the safe, efficient and compliant running of an energy from waste facility and its associated materials recovery operation in Lanarkshire.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of site performance, support and develop a skilled team, and drive improvements in plant reliability, safety and environmental standards.

As Plant Manager, you will:

• Lead day-to-day operations and support the development of the site team.
• Promote a proactive health and safety culture and ensure safe systems of work are followed.
• Manage environmental compliance, including permit requirements.
• Monitor plant availability, operational performance and contractual KPIs.
• Prepare and manage budgets, forecast expenditure and identify improvement opportunities.
• Work with the maintenance team on planned maintenance and annual outages.
• Coordinate the response to unplanned outages and the safe return of plant equipment to service.
• Oversee incoming waste quality and quantity, maintaining a consistent supply to the facility.
• Build effective relationships with contractors, suppliers, regulators and other stakeholders.

What we’re looking for

• Extensive management experience in operations, ideally within power generation, energy from waste or a similar industrial setting.
• A track record of leading teams and taking responsibility for operational performance.
• Strong knowledge of plant operations and maintenance, including steam boilers, turbines, generators and associated systems.
• Experience managing health, safety, environmental and quality standards in a regulated environment.
• Knowledge of operating procedures, permit systems and maintenance management systems.
• Experience managing budgets, KPIs and continuous improvement initiatives.
• An engineering qualification relevant to the power or waste industry, or equivalent experience.

Experience of gasification would be advantageous. NEBOSH, IOSH, IEMA or BOAS qualifications, and high-voltage authorised person experience, would also be beneficial.

We’d be interested in hearing from experienced Plant Managers, Operations Managers and senior operational leaders with relevant industrial backgrounds.
