Job summary

M-Tec Engineering Solutions is seeking a Plant Manager to lead manufacturing strategy and operations, ensuring quality, cost and delivery targets are met. You will drive Lean initiatives, align with senior stakeholders, and optimise production to maximise efficiency while maintaining safety and environmental standards.

The role requires senior management experience in manufacturing, strong cost control, and a track record of delivering continuous improvement across a high-volume plant.

Qualifications

  • Degree in engineering or manufacturing discipline, or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience at senior management level within manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean principles and CI methodologies.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets and drive KPI improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cost-optimisation and capital investment initiatives to improve plant performance.

Job description

A recognised high volume manufacturer are currently looking to strengthen their business with the appointment of a Plant Manager.

As Plant Manager, you will be responsible for implementing the Manufacturing strategy and operational goals to exceed customer expectations for product quality, cost and delivery, maximising efficiency, optimising production levels and driving operational excellence.

Work closely with internal key stakeholders, regarding technical support for activities, striving for best in class products and business practices to deliver to the customer's expectations.

Drive Key Performance Indicators across all areas of the Operations function to ensure that goods are manufactured to cost and on time to the highest quality standards.

Ensure Health, Safety and Environmental issues are prioritised and facilitated, direct and drive implementation of Lean Business strategy and drive Continuous Improvement across all manufacturing-related areas of the business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure that manufacturing processes and procedures are in place to meet business objectives and operational needs in terms of price, quality and delivery targets and which enables the company to function and compete effectively in the market.
  • Coordinate team activities to optimise cost performance of the plant through capital investment programmes, optimising operating working capital usage and minimising waste through the development of a continuous improvement culture encompassing lean principles and clear strategic development.
  • Create and implement best practice manufacturing vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve business performance.
  • Ensure daily team briefings are held and actions are followed through effectively.
  • Evaluate the challenges faced by the business and take action to mitigate risks and develop opportunities.
  • Lead, develop and implement variable cost productivity programmes across all areas of responsibility.
  • Implement a customer-focused, operational culture delivering world class customer service levels.
  • Ensure the T&A is accurate at all times and is optimised for labour efficiency and effectiveness or permanent and Agency staff.
  • Provide support for manufacturing input at early stages in the new product development process when requested, coordinating with and supporting the new product development team to implement new and revised designs and developing effective processes to ensure manufacturability of product while maintaining quality, safety and environmental standards as well as achieving cost targets.
  • Assist with the accurate and on-time introduction of new products
  • Ensure that Environmental, Health and Safety, manufacturing and quality standards and procedures are adhered to.
  • Contribute to overall business strategy and annual budget process.
  • Report on Manufacturing activities on a regular basis into Group and the Senior Management Team, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of the relevant Key Performance Indicators.
  • Input and hold responsibility for Production budgets
  • Any other reasonable request to fulfil the business needs

Candidates ideally should be educated to Degree level in a relevant engineering/manufacturing discipline or equivalent qualification with experience of operating and influencing at Senior Management level.
