Job summary

Depot/ Plant Manager - £249.15 per day Umbrella

Also suitable for a Logistics Manager, Transport Manager or Fleet Manager.

You will be responsible for all depot facilities, materials, equipment, plant and fleet management.

Main duties will include managing depot facilities and ensuring compliance to their standards; ensuring materials are planned and managed efficiently on each project; management of fleet and plant .

* Ensure each depot is run safely, efficiently and in compliance with standards
* Ensure the design and layout of the depot provides a safe environment, including provision of walkways, parking, loading, fuel, waste, welfare areas, security provision and separation of people from plant
* Responsible for the production and upkeep of the Premises Management Register and the safety and compliance requirements for each depot. Ensure risk assessments and safe systems of work are prepared, reviewed, briefed and updated
* Assign responsibilities for appointed persons and key roles such as COSHH, Fire Marshalls, First Aiders
* Ensure each depot is sufficiently resourced and Depot and Storepersons are trained and competent to carry out their role. Identify training and competency requirements and shortfalls
* Implement excellent stock management processes for each project, ensuring material is purchased, stored, allocated and issued efficiently. Support the planning of build materials, maintain minimum stock levels required to support the build programme and keep several different material systems up to date
* Oversee stock usage, cost, and loss reporting, including the management of a stock take programme and regular stock audits
* Responsible for all plant and tools, ensuring all equipment is accounted for, serviced, maintained, tested, hired and off hired efficiently
* Liaise with the Hire Desk to ensure accurate reporting of plant
* Coordinate the fleet requirements across all cities, ensuring all fleet is correctly allocated, utilised, serviced, checked and maintained
* Liaise with the Transport Department to ensure the process and procedure is followed
* Promote and monitor use the Check Safe phone app
* Carry out any other reasonable activities, tasks or duties as may be required to meet the ongoing or changing needs of the business. This may include travel between different sites and yards

Essential:
* Proven experience in a similar construction delivery depot or materials management role
* Demonstrated experience in material management and stores function
* Valid UK driving licence
* Good computer skills, MS Excel, Outlook, CPA/Causeway, Depotnet
* Experience in managing people
* Strong people skills and organisational ability

Desirable:

* Relevant qualifications to support experience
* COSHH awareness training
* First Aid
* Telehandler licence
* IOSH Managing Safely/NEBOSH
