Job summary

Biogen, located at Westwood AD Plant, Rushden, is seeking a Plant Engineer qualified in electrical or mechanical engineering. Ideal candidates will have process industry exposure, PLC/electronics experience and be prepared to obtain WAMITAB and NEBOSH certificates.

A full driving licence is required, with Telehandler licence training provided if needed. The role operates Tuesday–Friday nights 19:30–06:00, with day shifts during a 2–3 month training period.

Qualifications

Plant Engineer Requirements

The successful candidate will be qualified in electrical or mechanical engineering, ideally with experience from a related process industry. Experience in engineering, PLC controls or electronics would also be an advantage. You will ideally hold a qualification or possess experience in materials handling, confined spaces, working at heights and first aid. Training will be provided to achieve in house WAMITAB competency standards and a NEBOSH general certificate, if these are not already held.

You will have the ability to follow procedure and protocol, experience of cost control and working within budget and adapt to changing circumstances effectively. Be self-motivated, flexible and a great team player but also confident to work on your own. It is desirable that you have experience of environmental, safety and quality management systems. Experience of working with planned preventive maintenance systems is also essential for this position.

Training to obtain a telehandler licence will be provide, if you do not already hold one. A full driving licence is required. The role follows a Tuesday-to-Friday night-shift pattern, working from 19:30 to 06:00. Overtime is paid for approved additional hours worked.

The successful candidate will work day shifts during the initial training and induction period, which is anticipated to last approximately two to three months. You will then transition to the contracted night shift pattern, subject to satisfactory completion of the required training.

Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 pa, dependent on experience + 20% Night shift allowance
