Job summary

Biogen in Coggeshall, UK, seeks a Plant Maintenance Engineer to support the Site Manager with safe site operation and the Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) system. You will oversee planned downtime for key equipment to enable safe, cost‑effective overhauls and help maximise gas export through the GEU and Biogas Upgrading Plant (BUP).

Ideal candidates hold electrical or mechanical engineering qualifications; PLC/electronics experience is advantageous.

Job Description

You will join us as a Plant Maintenance Engineer who will support the Site Manager with the safe operation of the site, Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) System, planned down time of key equipment for planned, safe and cost effective overhaul. Ensuring the site operates to maximise the Grid Entry Unit (GEU), Gas export against budget. Maximising gas export through the GEU from the gas to grid Anaerobic Digestion (AD) plant, ensuring gas quality protocols are always achieved through the Biogas Upgrading Plant (BUP).

Plant Engineer Requirements

The successful candidate will be qualified in electrical or mechanical engineering, ideally with experience from a related process industry. Experience in engineering, PLC controls or electronics would also be an advantage. You will ideally hold a qualification or possess experience in materials handling, confined spaces, working at heights and first aid. Training will be provided to achieve in house WAMITAB competency standards and NEBOSH general certificate, if these are not already held.

You will have the ability to follow procedure and protocol, experience of cost control and working within budget, and adapt to changing circumstances effectively. Be self-motivated, flexible and a great team player but also confident to work on your own. It is desirable that you have experience of environmental, safety and quality management systems. Experience of working with planned preventive maintenance systems is also essential for this position. Due to the nature of the role, a full UK driving licence is required. You will have the ability to operate a telehandler truck and obtain a telehandler licence.

The role will involve working weekends and call out on a rota basis, and remote monitoring of the AD Process.

Job Details

• Type: Full time, 40 hours per week, weekends and remote monitoring
• Salary: up to £47,000 per annum dependent on experience + allowance + overtime
