Summary

Our Plant Hire Controller is responsible for managing the daily operations of equipment and maintaining efficient workflows within a plant hire company. This role involves coordinating equipment availability, arranging deliveries and collections, and liaising closely with customers to fulfil their rental needs. The Plant Hire Controller ensures that all machinery is maintained, inspected and fit for hire while also tracking its location, usage and service status.

Specific Responsibilities/ Tasks

Daily

1. Ensure yard walk is submitted and distributed to wider Plant team by 8.30am, daily.
2. Ensure yard activity report is created, completed, and distributed to Directors and Plant team by 9am, daily.
3. Ensure Motor Insurance Database is maintained and up to date.
4. Manage fleet requirements such as breakdowns, repairs, servicing etc. at various Doocey depots nationwide, ensuring requests are taken accurately and booked in for completion as requested.

Weekly

1. Every Monday and Tuesday, ensure all returns are documented, ensuring teams are chased for any missing information related to HGV’s, Vehicles, F91’s, WNT and any other Plant returns.
2. Ensure that every Wednesday (AM) plant returns report is completed and accurate, sending to SHEQ for collation for preparation of the Weekly Management Meeting.
3. Ensure that every Thursday, all grease forms are returned and reviewed for accuracy, chasing any that are missing.
4. Ensure by 5pm every Friday, the Cross Hire report is completed and distributed to wider Plant team.

Adhoc

1. Ensure fleet items are serviced as and when required, and within Plant SLA’s, also ensuring thorough and accurate records are maintained.
2. Attend mandatory training courses as defined within the company training matrix.
3. Keep up to date with legislation and record ‘Continued Professional Development’ (CPD).

Qualifications & Training

1. A comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office software, especially Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
2. GCSE’s Grade 9-4 or equivalent.

Technical Skills & Experience

1. Extensive experience within the same role, or similar within the civil engineering sector.
2. Self-driven, results-oriented, with a ‘can do’ attitude without compromising safety and/or compliance.
3. Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including employees, management, regulatory agencies, and the community.
