The Ellison Institute of Technology (EIT) Oxford is seeking a Bioinformatician to join the Bioinformatics platform team. You will develop algorithms for genomics and transcriptomics in plants, and work with researchers to translate questions into scalable pipelines and analyses.

Ideal candidates have a PhD in a relevant field, strong genomics experience, and proficiency in Python/R, Linux HPC, and ML approaches for trait prediction. Collaboration with engineers and researchers is essential.

Qualifikationen

• PhD or equivalent in Bioinformatics, Genomics, Computational Biology, or a related field.
• Strong background in genomics and transcriptomics with plant genomes.
• Experience with genome assembly, annotation and variant analysis.
• Familiarity with Linux HPC/cloud environments (SLURM, OCI).
• Experience applying ML to genomic data and predicting traits.
• Ability to translate research questions into milestones.
• Strong programming/scripting skills (Python, R).
• Knowledge of FASTQ, BAM/VCF, reference genomes and related tools.
• Experience with Git and version-controlled codebases.
• Collaborative work with engineers and researchers.

• Apply and evaluate machine learning methods to predict traits from data.
