Job Summary
As a Plant Fitter, you will be responsible for the service, maintenance, and repair of a wide range of plant, agricultural, and construction equipment. This role includes both workshop-based and mobile duties, ensuring machines are operating efficiently, safely, and in line with manufacturer standards. Work involves diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults, carrying out preventative maintenance, and responding to breakdowns on-site or at customer locations.
Key Responsibilities
Perform routine servicing, inspections, and scheduled maintenance on plant machinery
Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical faults
Conduct pre-delivery inspections and ensure all equipment meets safety regulations
Respond to emergency breakdowns in a timely and professional manner (if mobile-based)
Complete job sheets, service reports, and parts requisitions accurately
Use diagnostic tools and follow technical manuals to identify and solve issues
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment (in workshop or on-site)
Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with health and safety regulations
Liaise with customers and provide updates on repair progress and equipment condition
Participate in ongoing training and manufacturer-specific courses as required
Skills & Qualifications
Proven experience working as a plant fitter, agricultural engineer, or similar
Strong understanding of hydraulic systems, diesel engines, and mechanical systems
Ability to work independently or as part of a team
Good communication and customer service skills
Full UK driving licence (essential for mobile-based roles)
NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plant Maintenance or equivalent (desirable)
CSCS card or other relevant safety certifications (desirable)
