As a Plant Engineer at Parc Adfer, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the site operates safely, efficiently, and reliably every day. Working closely with the site leadership and technical teams, you’ll lead and support a wide range of engineering activities – from performance optimisation and outage delivery to maintenance planning, compliance, and long-term asset integrity.

If you're motivated by problem-solving, collaboration, and making a tangible difference, this role gives you real scope to have an impact at the heart of a critical energy and waste infrastructure site.

What you’ll be doing
You’ll be part of the site’s core engineering team, working across mechanical, electrical and control systems to ensure our assets perform at their best and continue to evolve with the needs of the business.

You’ll support the safe and effective operation of:

  • Waste-fired high-pressure boilers

  • Flue gas treatment systems

  • Steam turbine generator

  • Ash handling systems

  • High-voltage (HV) and distributed control systems (DCS)

  • The wider balance of plant

On a day-to-day basis, you’ll:

  • Provide technical support to operations and maintenance teams on plant issues and investigations

  • Lead or support root cause analysis and resolution of equipment faults or performance concerns

  • Work with internal teams and contractors to deliver maintenance and engineering strategies

  • Lead outage planning and support execution, ensuring work is delivered safely and efficiently

  • Champion safety, environmental and regulatory compliance across all engineering activities

  • Maintain and develop documentation, procedures and digital systems to support safe and reliable operation

  • Identify and drive improvements in asset performance, safety, and cost-efficiency

What you’ll bring
Essential qualifications and experience:

  • HNC/HND or higher in Mechanical, Electrical, or Control & Instrumentation Engineering

  • IOSH or NEBOSH Managing Safely (or equivalent)

  • Technical knowledge of steam raising plant, turbine systems, and process engineering

  • At least 2 years’ experience in a power generation, heavy industry, or process-led environment

  • Familiarity with CMMS platforms and tools like Excel and MS Project

  • Understanding of CDM regulations and safe systems of work in high-risk settings

What sets you apart:

  • A proactive, hands-on approach to solving complex problems

  • The ability to influence and lead others to achieve shared goals

  • Strong organisational and communication skills

  • A drive for continuous improvement and operational excellence
