Location: Thamesmead, London

Salary: £35,775

Working Hours: Flexi Hours Monday to Friday between 7.30am – 6pm – 37 hours per week

First Military Recruitment is recruiting for a Plant and Vehicle Technician to work on various vehicles. This role offers an excellent opportunity to join an expanding business with potential for career advancement.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Attend breakdowns, assess faults, and either rectify issues or arrange vehicle collection from roadside, including recovery.
2. Coordinate with managers and admin staff regarding job orders and necessary variations.
3. Communicate with customers about vehicle repairs, delays, and arrangements.
4. Drive customer vehicles as needed, including LGV, HGV, and PCV.
5. Maintain workshop stocks, ensuring health and safety compliance, and reorder supplies as needed.
6. Order and fit parts or materials for repairs.
7. Collaborate with other tradespersons and perform minor repairs in related trades.
8. Conduct VOSA testing using computerized systems when required.
9. Adhere to health and safety legislation, report safety concerns, and take immediate action.
10. Keep accurate records of all work, comply with transport regulations, and pass records to supervisors promptly.
11. Stay updated on developments in vehicle technology, participate in training, and maintain necessary certifications.
12. Handle MOT testing for public vehicles and present vehicles over 3.5 tons to VOSA test centers.
13. Perform repairs on agricultural, horticultural, or arborist plant equipment as needed.
14. Respond to emergency call-outs and assist customers in emergencies.
15. Supervise temporary staff, apprentices, or work experience placements when assigned.
16. Perform all duties respecting health and safety, equal opportunities, customer care policies, and new technology standards.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Experience as a Plant/Vehicle Technician/Fitter with a mixed fleet background.
• City and Guilds / IMI Level 3 qualification or equivalent.
• Full clean UK/EU driving license with at least one year of driving experience; HGV license is desirable.
