Job summary

Carrington West are assisting their local authority client based in the Midlands in the search for a Planning Support Officer/Validations Officer to join their Town Planning department.

You will validate and process planning applications, advise applicants and the public, and liaise with development management teams to ensure timely responses. The role starts almost immediately, with a rate of £30–£35 per hour, negotiable based on experience.

Qualifications

• Experience in validating planning applications and checking submissions against guidance.
• Ability to advise applicants, agents and members of the public on planning matters.
• Experience liaising with development management and related teams.

Responsibilities

• Validate and process all types of planning applications, check submissions against checklists and guidance, and ensure accuracy of drawings.
• Provide information, guidance and advice to applicants, agents and members of the public.
• Respond to correspondence and enquiries within the council's timescales; liaise with other departments.
• Provide cover for absent team members and support the planning department as needed.
