Job summary

East Suffolk Council is seeking a Planning Technician for a fixed-term maternity cover until December 2027, based at East Suffolk House, Melton, Woodbridge IP12 1RT and Riverside, Lowestoft. The role provides technical, administrative and digital support to the Planning Policy & Delivery Team.

The successful candidate will help create and publish planning documents, support public engagement, respond to enquiries and assist with data analysis and mapping.

Qualifications

• We are looking for a candidate with excellent IT skills and a customer-focused approach to information provision.
• Experience in a Planning related role is desirable but not essential; opportunity for development.
• Strong organisational, communication and data handling abilities are required.

Responsibilities

• Create and manage website content and publish high-quality documents and maps.
• Support public consultation and community engagement activities via digital platforms.
• Respond to enquiries from residents and stakeholders; assist Neighbourhood Plan groups.
• Support internal administration and identify digital process improvements with the Lead Technician.
• Contribute to the Planning Delivery Dashboard and delivery of planning information.
