Job summary

A local government council in Morpeth is seeking a professional to support Development Management services. You will assist with minor planning applications and undertake site visits. Job description

The role is to support colleagues and senior professional and managerial staff in the provision of Development Management services, by providing technical expertise and assisting in the processing and appraisal of minor planning applications, tree applications, and pre-application enquiries. You will undertake a range of functions related to the processing of planning applications, including site visits, evidence collection, assessment of proposals, and preparation for planning appeals.

Requirements and Skills
  • A good standard of general education, and a planning or related degree is desirable.
  • Experience and understanding of working in a planning service, with a sound knowledge of Development Management processes and procedures is desirable.
  • Experience in using Microsoft Office, Oracle applications, and a sound knowledge of spatial planning data and GIS systems.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and performance management.
  • You must hold a current UK driving licence; access to a car is desirable.
Additional Information

You will be required to travel to development sites and other work areas, so you must meet the transport requirements of this post. The position is based at County Hall, Morpeth, with flexible working arrangements including home working.
