Job Purpose

  • To take a lead in providing expertise on planning policy for the development of the Southwark Plan and take part in and support staff in a learning environment where you will have the opportunity to develop professional skills, knowledge, behaviours and work experience in Planning.
Key Duties/Accountabilities
  • Deliver complex and specialised planning policy expertise within the planning services
  • Contribute to decisions and recommendations regarding development management, planning policy, planning services and planning projects
  • Provide advice on the statutory planning process reaching high standards of clarity and accuracy
  • Support team working with other professional staff on climate emergency, transport planning decisions, planning and transport policy and projects
Essential Experience Required
  • In depth understanding of urban planning and regeneration issues in a major city context
  • Experience of strategic planning and decision making at a local and regional level
  • A degree in a relevant subject or a relevant professional qualification
  • Evidence of continuing professional development with an understanding of management concepts, practices and principles gained through experience
Additional information to note
  • Working hours: 36 hours per week
  • The role is Hybrid. Office presence 3 days a week, central London location
