Job summary

Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council is seeking a talented Planning Officer to join its Planning Policy team. You will contribute to a broad range of policy work, including Local Plan preparation, monitoring and evidence base development, and advising colleagues and stakeholders.

We welcome RTPI accreditation and look for a qualification in planning (or progress towards one). The role offers flexible, hybrid working, with 37 hours per week, and a salary range of £33,119 to £45,529.

Qualifications

• Has a relevant planning qualification (or is working towards one).
• Knows the planning system and policy framework.
• Can analyse complex information and produce clear, high-quality reports.
• Works effectively both independently and collaboratively.
• Is committed to shaping high-quality, sustainable places.
• RTPI accreditation (or working towards it) is welcomed.

Responsibilities

• Preparation, monitoring and review of the Local Plan and supporting evidence base.
• Development of planning policy to support economic growth and regeneration.
• Providing professional advice to colleagues, elected members and stakeholders.
• Supporting consultation, engagement and examination processes.
