A major client is seeking a Planning Policy Manager for a contract role in London. Job description

Our client is currently seeking a Planning Policy Manager for a contract position. This role involves overseeing the local development plan through its critical stages and ensuring a seamless examination process.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Leading and managing the local development plan through to examination
2. Reporting directly to the Director of Planning and Development
3. Managing and guiding the Policy team, comprising four Principal Planners
4. Working collaboratively with the Transport Planning officers
5. Addressing challenges related to high affordable housing targets
6. Exercising political astuteness and presenting plans effectively
7. Communicating necessary changes to the mayor and key portfolio holders
8. Engaging with the planning inspector and facilitating examination hearings

Job Requirements:

1. Experience in Town Planning, particularly in policy development
2. Proven track record of handling Examination in Public (EIP)
3. Strong leadership and team management skills
4. Ability to navigate complex political landscapes
5. Excellent communication and presentation abilities
6. Understanding of affordable housing targets and their implications
