About

This is a unique opportunity to work within a pro-active multi-disciplinary Development Management team and help shape, influence, and be at the forefront of creating high-quality places and sustainable new communities.

In consultation with your line manager, you will assist with the processing and assessment of general planning enquiries, including site inspections, negotiations with applicants/agents, objectors, and the public. You will assist senior officers in preparing evidence for appeals and other administrative duties to support the team.

This role incorporates studying and completing an RTPI Level 7 Town Planner apprenticeship (master's degree) at Anglia Ruskin University. You will be expected to attend classes during term time, with travel expenses reimbursed. Entry requirements include having a relevant qualification (HNC or related degree) and/or a minimum of 4 years proven experience in a planning environment.

The successful applicant should have good communication skills, both written and verbal, effectively manage time to meet deadlines, be a problem solver, and possess negotiation skills.

The councils receive circa 4000 planning applications annually, covering urban, rural, and vibrant market towns, serving approximately 260,000 residents and 10,000 businesses across 161 parishes. Our work includes urban and rural planning, residential, retail, commercial, and agricultural development.
