Job description

iPeople SC Solutions is recruiting Planning Officers to work for our client in Hackney and the surrounding areas.

The successful postholder will be responsible for the processing of Development Management matters within an area-based or function-based team. This includes handling pre-application advice, planning applications, conditions, appeals, and, when required, enforcement. The role involves negotiations with developers and other interested parties, and securing financial and community benefits through legal agreements.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • The Planning Officer will ensure, in conjunction with colleagues, that statutory and legal obligations are delivered and communicated in a customer-focused manner, while optimizing available resources.
  • The Planning Officer will be accountable to the Team Leader of Development Management & Enforcement or the Major Applications Team Leader for achieving agreed service outcomes and personal appraisal targets that uphold the Council’s Core Values and meet best practice standards.
  • Contribute to the development of the Service and its statutory functions.
  • Utilize IT equipment to input data, analyze, and extract information related to specific duties.
  • Perform other minor and non-recurring duties as directed.
  • Undertake planning enforcement work and appeals as necessary.

Working Hours: 36 hours per week

Requirements
  • Ability to write reports and a wide range of correspondence related to Development Management and other planning issues.
  • A relevant qualification in Town Planning or an equivalent supporting membership of the RTPI, or a graduate qualification in a related discipline.
  • Able and willing to attend meetings or undertake work outside normal working hours, such as evening meetings.
