Job summary

Schools’ Choice is recruiting for a Planning Officer (Development Management) in Walsall. Hybrid working with 2 days onsite per week, including Tuesdays. You will manage a caseload of householder and minor planning applications, provide pre-application advice, and handle related appeals.

The successful candidate will have Development Management experience within a Local Authority, strong report writing and communication skills, and the ability to work independently on a busy caseload.

Planning Officer (Development Management) £25.27 per hour PAYE | £35.00 per hour Umbrella Inside IR35 3-Month Contract Walsall | Hybrid Working (2 Days Onsite Per Week Including Tuesdays)

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Planning Officer (Development Management) to join a Local Authority planning team in Walsall. Priority will be given to candidates who are available at short notice.

The Role

You will join a small, supportive team and be responsible for managing a caseload of householder and minor planning applications, pre-application enquiries and associated appeals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and determine householder and minor planning applications.
  • Provide pre-application planning advice.
  • Handle planning appeals and related casework.
  • Prepare reports and recommendations in line with planning legislation and local policy.
  • Liaise with applicants, agents, consultees and other stakeholders.
  • Manage new and reallocated caseloads efficiently and effectively.
About You
  • Previous Development Management experience within a Local Authority.
  • Experience handling householder and minor planning applications.
  • Good understanding of planning legislation, policy and procedures.
  • Strong report writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a busy caseload.
Requirements
  • Ability to attend the Walsall office 2 days per week, including Tuesdays.
  • Access to your own vehicle.
  • Availability at short notice is highly desirable.
