Job summary

Opus People Solutions is recruiting for a Planning Officer (Development Management) in Walsall. The role covers managing a caseload of householder and minor planning applications, pre-application enquiries, and related appeals, with hybrid working (2 days onsite per week, including Tuesdays).

Applicants should have Development Management experience in a Local Authority, experience handling relevant applications, and strong report writing and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Previous Development Management experience within a Local Authority.
• Experience handling householder and minor planning applications.
• Good understanding of planning legislation, policy and procedures.
• Strong report writing and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage a busy caseload.

Responsibilities

• Assess and determine householder and minor planning applications.
• Provide pre-application planning advice.
• Handle planning appeals and related casework.
• Prepare reports and recommendations in line with planning legislation and local policy.
• Liaise with applicants, agents, consultees and other stakeholders.
• Manage new and reallocated caseloads efficiently and effectively.
