Job summary

Balfour Beatty Power T&D is recruiting for a Planning Manager to support the delivery of Substation projects across the South East. Location is flexible, with regular travel to project sites.

You will lead planning activities across the project lifecycle, mentor planning teams, and provide critical insight to keep programmes robust and aligned with business objectives. Previous line management experience is essential.

Qualifications

• Proficient competence in project management tools and software such as Excel, MS Project, Primavera P6 or ASTA.
• Strong understanding of construction project management principles and best practices.
• Expert scheduling and planning capability with complex schedules.

Responsibilities

• Identify planning scope, constraints, and contract requirements with the team.
• Lead Tender Planning and agree sequence and methodology for efficient delivery.
• Oversee the development of programs, planning philosophy, and reports.
• Guide planners in Tender Programmes to align with organisational goals.
• Manage Contract Programme and ensure alignment with planning procedures.
• Display and evaluate critical paths, propose corrective actions and baselines.
• Manage labour, equipment and materials to meet objectives while controlling costs.
• Oversee contracts with subcontractors and suppliers; monitor performance.
• Produce project data and KPIs to enable data-driven decisions.
• Provide mentorship and development for junior planners.
