Job summary

Key Information

Hybrid working within this role enables a balance of 50 per cent of time split between the office and home over a 4-week period. Hybrid working arrangements can evolve subject to business requirements.

Woolwich Ferry is one of London's most distinctive transport operations, providing a vital river crossing and supporting local communities for over a century. As Planning Manager, you'll have the opportunity to shape the future performance, resilience, and reliability of this essential service. Working alongside operational, engineering, and leadership teams, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring our assets, people, and processes are planned effectively to keep London moving.

Accountabilities
  • Lead planning activities for preventative maintenance to ensure that Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) meets or exceeds the business performance target of 100% completion each period. This includes:
  • Being the single point of responsibility for ensuring all Woolwich Ferry PPM works in Maximo are planned and communicated to maintenance teams and crews
  • Provide periodic report on completed/outstanding maintenance works. Highlight variances, provide recommendations
  • Owning and managing works within Maximo
  • Ensuring materials, resource and asset condition is recorded in Maximo
  • Ensuring contractors and suppliers' PPM tasks are visible on Maximo and works are monitored to completion
  • Pro-actively managing risks, issues and concerns
  • Being the single point of contact for all stakeholder relationships for Maximo, internally and externally.
  • Lead closure/service downtime planning for planned maintenance and capital project works to maximise use of downtime and reduce disruption for users of the ferry service.
  • Develop and manage forward look plans for planned maintenance and capital works which have service disruption.
  • Actively support maintenance and capital teams in identifying and maximising opportunity works.
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders, sharing best practice and influencing decisions
  • Manage rostering for operational and maintenance staff to support a reliable service and effective and efficient maintenance.
  • Develop a forward look tool to track and oversee operational and maintenance related rosters and potential gaps
  • Ensure forward look closures are communicated to operational staff to ensure all areas of operational needs and maintenance delivery
Skills
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with people within and outside the organisation.
  • Ability to influence senior managers, stakeholders and leaders across Woolwich Ferry and TfL
  • Analyse complex data (quantitative and qualitative), draw conclusions, and produce solutions
  • Ability to use a variety of management tools and techniques to manage change, motivate individuals and teams and inspire high performance.
  • Competent in using planning / scheduling tools
Knowledge
  • Degree or HNC in engineering or asset management
  • Good knowledge of asset management processes and the way in which asset management systems are used to manage these processes
  • Good understanding of asset performance
  • Good understanding of the Maximo asset management system
  • Strong knowledge of planning / scheduling
  • Understanding of physical assets and technologies in use by Woolwich Ferry/ TfL
  • Knowledge of TfL policies, procedures, standards relating to asset management and maintenance
  • Understanding of the challenges relating to the safe, effective and efficient provision of all Woolwich Ferry and associated landside terminals services
  • Knowledge of operational rostering
Experience
  • Proven experience of successfully influencing teams to deliver planned maintenance
  • Delivery of change involving processes, data and systems
  • Using Asset Management Systems to plan and report on maintenance activities
  • Planning and scheduling work practices, preferably in an operational engineering environment
  • Developing forward plans for renewal and/or maintenance works
  • Roster planning and management
  • Supporting safety and/or service critical operations
