We are looking for a Planning Manager to join our Infrastructure Roads team in Bedfordshire.

What you'll do:

  • Develop and implement the planning approach for projects, aligning with both customer and Skanska’s requirements to positively impact project delivery.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the project planning team to deliver high-quality planning outputs.
  • Establish a collaborative project-level planning approach that actively engages the entire project team through diverse programme presentations including time chainage, 4D modelling, short-term planning, and phasing diagrams.
  • Interrogate programmes to identify improvements, reduce risks, and address potential issues across the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with the project controls team to create adaptable planning reports that maximize automation, enabling planners to focus on value-added tasks.
  • Monitor programme trends across projects and develop strategies to exploit positive trends or mitigate negative ones.
  • Conduct regular peer reviews of programmes, challenging both planners and wider project teams to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Act as the key liaison between planning and customers to ensure clear communication of programme status, risks, and trends.
  • Collaborate with the wider planning community to share best practices and innovations.

What you'll bring to the role:

  • Proven track record in production delivery roles such as site engineering.
  • Significant planning experience within a infrastructure contractor environment, ideally in highways projects.
  • Expertise in various methods of planning and familiarity with multiple planning software tools.
  • Strong understanding of construction market dynamics including all project stages, construction methods, plant, equipment, and labour requirements.
  • Technical knowledge of construction techniques developed through formal education (Degree/HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or Construction) combined with practical site management experience.
  • Deep understanding of contractual impacts on project timelines and how these are managed within programmes.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results while focusing on customer satisfaction.
  • Excellent communication skills for engaging with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Strong collaborative mindset aligned with improving business processes and driving sustainability.
