This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in one of the UK's largest infrastructure investment programmes, supporting the delivery of a substantial portfolio of wastewater projects throughout AMP8 and into AMP9.

Working closely with Severn Trent Water's project delivery teams, you will lead planning and controls activities across a complex capital programme, whilst managing and developing a team of 4-5 planning professionals. This position offers genuine career progression and the opportunity to build and grow a high-performing planning function as investment programmes expand over the coming years.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead all planning and scheduling activities across a portfolio of wastewater infrastructure projects.

  • Monitor programme performance, progress and key milestones across multiple projects.
  • Support project teams with programme recovery strategies and mitigation planning.
  • Work closely with project managers, commercial teams and stakeholders to ensure alignment between programme, cost and risk management activities.
  • Manage programme reporting, forecasting and performance analysis for senior leadership teams.
  • Support governance processes and programme controls throughout AMP8 and future AMP9 investments.
  • Drive improvements in planning processes, systems and project controls capability.
  • Provide strategic planning insight to support investment decisions and project prioritisation.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performing team culture, with responsibility for mentoring and developing junior planners.
Skills/experience/qualifications
  • Significant experience in a Planning Manager or Lead Planner role - this is not a position for a Senior Planner looking to progress
  • Proven background delivering major infrastructure, utilities or capital works programmes.
  • Strong NEC contract experience, including programme management, change control, compensation events and contractual reporting requirements.
  • Experience managing planning teams and developing planning capability.
  • Expert knowledge of Primavera P6 and project controls methodologies.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within client environments and integrated delivery teams.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Ability to work from the Tamworth office four days per week.
  • Previous water sector experience, ideally within AMP programmes.
  • Experience working with Severn Trent Water or other UK water utilities.
  • Knowledge of wastewater treatment, network infrastructure or environmental projects.
Benefits
  • 90,000 - 100,000 basic salary (negotiable)
  • Competitive benefits package.

  • Opportunity to manage and grow a team of planners.
  • Exposure to one of the UK's most significant wastewater capital investment portfolios.
  • Clear career progression within a growing Project Controls business.
