Construction | Permanent | Hybrid | Gatwick Airport

We are searching for a Planning Manager (Major Projects) to join the world's most efficient single-runway airport. As part of a collaborative team, you'll have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the delivery of a substantial investment plan aimed at developing and enhancing our airport infrastructure and facilities.

The airport's current projects, which range from £50m to £350m, include the International Departure Lounge (IDL) in the North and South Terminals, valued at over £500m, as well as a £140m extension to Pier 6.

You'll be instrumental to our airport's future success, working closely with our Programme Manager to achieve the strategic aims and objectives of the business. Your primary focus will be on developing, implementing, and delivering effective planning and assurance processes across a programme of projects typically valued in excess of £150m.

What is the role?

Reporting to the Lead Planning Manager, you'll take a key role in leading the planning of projects across all stages of their lifecycle, from concept approval to delivery and closeout.

Your mission is to ensure performance targets are not just met but surpassed consistently and on time. Other duties include:

  1. Creating and maintaining schedules for the entire project journey, including internal and external interfaces, managing control programmes from project concept to closeout, evaluating contract programmes, assessing compensation events, conducting delay analysis, and driving schedule improvements through our supply chain.
  2. Leading and managing planning teams for the programme, applying your knowledge across multiple projects to help achieve strategic goals.
  3. Contributing to the development of standards, managing, motivating, coaching, and mentoring team members to grow the planning team.
  4. Reviewing the Programme, assisting in trend and change processes, reporting, risk management, and finding efficiencies to positively affect programme outcomes and team performance.
  5. Upholding world-class health, safety, and environmental standards across the programme and its contractors.
What are we looking for?

The live environment at Gatwick requires all our teams to be flexible, adaptable, and innovative problem-solvers. You'll have the opportunity to deliver strategic project objectives and lead projects from inception to completion.

Requirements include:

  • Experience planning infrastructure projects as a Senior Planner on multi-year programmes within construction or infrastructure sectors, typically worth over £100 million.
  • Experience leading small teams.
  • Extensive experience with Primavera P6 and related commercial acumen.
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly to a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Proven leadership, influencing skills, and the ability to motivate, coach, and facilitate learning.
What do I get?

Our employees enjoy a range of benefits, including a 5% Welcome Bonus, performance-based bonuses, discounts, healthcare, life insurance, professional development, travel discounts, and volunteer days.
