Job summary

Bovis is recruiting a Planning Manager to lead planning and monitoring on a major public sector project in Gloucester, Gloucestershire. You will manage the planning process solo or within a team from bid to completion, working with the Project Operations Team to develop the most efficient programme and methodology, then support execution for timely delivery of bids and projects.

You will develop strategies with the project team, prepare Planning Reports, and provide data for regular status

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication and report writing skills.
  • Experience developing project plans, programmes and delivery strategies.
  • Strong knowledge of P6 planning, 4D BIM and CPA planning techniques.
  • Understanding of construction contracts and procurement methods.

Responsibilities

  • Develop project planning, programme and delivery strategy for bids and projects.
  • Create preconstruction and construction methodology for efficient delivery.
  • Prepare project plan, programme and Planning Report per procedures.
  • Provide solutions for timely delivery and report progress to leadership.
  • Chair weekly planning meetings to coordinate programmes and milestones.
  • Record time impacts of delays and support status dashboards.
  • Coordinate 4D BIM model with BIM Coordinator.
  • Support and develop project team members in planning tools and techniques.

Job description

We are recruiting for a Planning Manager to join us and assist in the conversion and construction on one of our major public sector projects in Gloucester, Gloucestershire.

As a Bovis Planning Manager you will manage the planning and monitoring of large/complex projects, either as an individual or as part of a project planning team potentially from bid to completion You will work with our Project Operations Team to develop the most efficient project methodology and programme and then support the execution of the plan to the timely delivery of bids and projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop in conjunction with the Project Team the project planning, programme and delivery strategy for both bids and projects.
  • In conjunction with the project team, develop the preconstruction and construction methodology to enable the most efficient and effective delivery of the project.
  • Develop the project plan, programme and Planning Report in accordance with our planning procedures.
  • Provide experienced based solutions for delivering the project and consideration by the Project Team.
  • Report project progress at regular intervals against the contract and delivery programmes, or other nominated programmes
  • Support the project team in the creation and statusing of medium and short-range programmes.
  • Project Controls - Produce data to support regular status updates and the weekly project dashboard providing updates on progress and key issues.
  • Prepare support reports and documents supporting the role of ‘the project conscience’ to inform the Project Senior Leadership Team and the Business Unit on matters related to programme.
  • Assist in chairing the weekly planning meeting to coordinate project programmes, progress update, delay records and key forthcoming milestones.
  • Review change proposals and advise on time impact.
  • Assess and record time impacts of delays – Event Analysis
  • Record as built production rates and delays to provide benchmarking for future projects.
  • In conjunction with the BIM Coordinator, coordinate the 4D BIM model.
  • Facilitate project team understanding and ownership of the plan and programme.
  • Support the development of Project Team Members in the use of Planning technique and tools.
  • Support and input into initiatives to further enhance our Planning Procedures and Processes
Skills, Knowledge, Experience, Behaviours
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt approach dependent on the situation and audience.
  • Produce reports and diagrams to a high standard to convey proposed sequences and methodologies.
  • Strong use of Excel (use of formulae, pivot tables etc).
  • Strong Excel (use of formulae, pivot tables etc) and PowerPoint skills.
  • 4D BIM software knowledge.
  • Expert / comprehensive understanding of construction methodology, building technology, pre-construction processes and procurement methods.
  • Strong understanding of the primary forms of construction contracts and the key commercial terms.
  • Working knowledge of P6.
  • Strong knowledge of CPA planning techniques and project controls.
  • Able to draw upon experience in multiple industry sectors.
  • Experience of working under different forms of construction contract.
  • Strong understanding and experience in the use of P6.
  • Ability to challenge programme assumptions constructively.
