Job summary

Morson Edge, on behalf of a leading aerospace manufacturer, is recruiting a Planning Manager (Manufacturing & Capacity Planning) on a 12-month fixed-term basis to lead planning across a complex machining and processing environment. The role balances demand with capacity, inventory and production, working with multiple value streams and stakeholders to drive SIOP, improve KPIs and deliver results.

Responsibilities

• Lead the SIOP process across machining and processing operations.
• Review demand, supply, inventory and capacity plans for risks and opportunities.
• Develop short and long-term capacity strategies.
• Identify and communicate delivery risks to stakeholders.
• Own the SIOP review process and present outputs.
• Align planning with Operations, Production, Supply Chain and Leadership.
• Monitor KPIs for delivery, inventory, capacity and performance.
• Support scenario planning and capacity modelling.
• Drive continuous improvement within planning functions.
• Manage planning actions through to completion.

Morson Talent is supporting a leading aerospace manufacturer in the recruitment of a Planning Manager (Manufacturing & Capacity Planning) on a 12-month fixed-term basis.

This is a key position within the manufacturing operation, responsible for leading planning activities across a complex machining and processing environment.

The successful candidate will play a vital role in balancing demand, capacity, inventory and production requirements while supporting multiple internal manufacturing value streams.

This opportunity would suit an experienced Production Planning, Master Scheduling, Production Control or Supply Chain Planning professional who can quickly integrate into the business and operate with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP) process across machining and processing operations.
• Review and analyse demand, supply, inventory and capacity plans to identify risks and opportunities.
• Develop short and long-term capacity strategies to support manufacturing requirements.
• Support internal stakeholders through the early identification and communication of delivery risks.
• Own and manage the SIOP review process, including preparation of reports, analysis and presentation of outputs.
• Work closely with Operations, Production, Supply Chain and Leadership teams to ensure planning alignment.
• Monitor and improve key performance indicators relating to delivery, inventory, capacity utilisation and operational performance.
• Support scenario planning, resource planning and capacity modelling activities.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and process enhancements within planning functions.
• Manage planning actions through to completion and ensure delivery against agreed objectives.
• Utilise SAP and other ERP systems to support effective planning and decision-making.

About You

We're looking for a highly capable planning professional with experience gained within a complex manufacturing environment.

You will ideally have experience in:

• Production Planning
• Master Production Scheduling (MPS)
• Capacity Planning
• Production Control
• Supply Chain Planning
• Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP/SIOP)
• Manufacturing Operations

You’ll also possess:

• Experience within aerospace, engineering, machining, precision manufacturing or a similar production environment.
• Strong understanding of machining, processing or shop-floor manufacturing operations.
• Experience balancing customer demand against manufacturing capacity.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Working knowledge of inventory management principles.
• Advanced SAP or ERP system experience.
• Advanced Excel and data analysis capabilities.

Desirable Experience

• Degree qualified in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering or a related discipline.
• APICS, CPIM or equivalent supply chain qualification.
• Experience of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, ACE or Six Sigma methodologies.
• Experience supporting operational improvement or business transformation projects
