Planning Manager
Working under the direction of the Head of Production Planning, this role coordinates the day-to-day operation of the Production Planning department, ensuring daily tasks are completed accurately and on time and that appropriate cover is maintained for holidays, weekends and other operational requirements.
The role supports effective relationships with Marketing Desks, direct supply customers, growers, suppliers and internal departments, and ensures relevant information is communicated throughout the business.
Main Duties
- Coordinate the daily execution of planning activities, systems and processes in line with priorities and standards set by the Head of Production Planning.
- Maintain effective working relationships between FWM and its customers, Marketing Desks, growers and suppliers, providing operational planning support and escalating commercial or strategic matters to the Head of Production Planning.
- Notify the Head of Production Planning promptly of potential supply, customer, stock, service or operational issues, providing accurate information and practical recommendations.
- Monitor service levels against the agreed target and customer expectations, escalating exceptions and recovery actions to the Head of Production Planning.
- Support Production functions, including Packhouse, Quality Control and Despatch, with accurate information relating to orders, customer programmes and stock.
- Allocate daily duties and coordinate appropriate rotation and cover for Planners and Packhouse Administrators, escalating significant resource or rota changes for approval.
- Coordinate the training programme for new team members in line with the approach agreed by the Head of Production Planning.
- Provide day-to-day guidance and support to the Planning team, promoting accuracy, communication, teamwork and timely completion of tasks.
- Identify opportunities to reduce avoidable rework and non-effective costs, referring material process changes to the Head of Production Planning for approval.
- Maintain daily liaison with the Head of Production Planning, providing clear updates on workload, risks, service levels and team requirements.
- Support and deputise for the Head of Production Planning only when formally requested, and within the authority and scope specifically delegated for that period.
Essential

- Experience in fresh produce, food production or a similar fast-paced environment
